Getting to Koh Chang
Bangkok to Koh Chang by plane, bus, minibus or car — here’s how to reach us, updated for your trip.
From Bangkok to the island
There are several ways to reach Koh Chang from Bangkok — by bus, plane or car to Trat Province, then a short ferry to the island. Whether you want the fastest or the cheapest option, here’s what to know. From Koh Chang Pier it’s about 30 minutes to the hotel arranged by S.E.A. Kayaking.
Four ways to travel
By Plane
Fly Suvarnabhumi → Trat (≈60 min, Bangkok Airways), then a van/minibus + ferry to Koh Chang (~700 THB/way, ~1.5–2 hrs). Note: the earliest flight is around 12:40, arriving your hotel ~15:40 — if you need to arrive on the familiarisation day, tell us in advance and we may reschedule our meeting.
By Bus
Cheap and popular. The #999 from Ekkamai (Eastern) Terminal runs ~07:45 to the Koh Chang piers (≈260 THB/way, 5–6 hrs); arrival at our office ~15:30. The #9908 from Mochit also works to Trat town (+Songthaew). Overnight Cherdchai and Boonsiri VIP (from Khaosan, ~850 THB incl. ferry & transfer) are good options too.
By Minibus
Easy to book online (e.g. Koh Chang Minibus), ~950–1,200 THB/person incl. ferry, with central-Bangkok hotel pick-up. Direct from Suvarnabhumi, the ‘Lonely Beach Express’ (Burapha bus) runs ~07:00 & 10:00, ~700 THB incl. ferry, arriving Klong Prao–Kai Bae ~15:00.
By Car
Rent a private car from Bangkok or Suvarnabhumi to Koh Chang — roughly 3,500–4,500 THB one way. The most flexible (and door-to-door) option if you’re travelling as a group.
