Booking Conditions
Everything you need to know before you book — payment, cancellation, equipment, expedition terms, food and accommodation.
Securing your booking
A 25% deposit is required to secure your booking. The balance is due a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the start date; where there is one month or less before the trip, full payment is required. Once payment is received you’ll be notified, and further information will follow to finalise all arrangements. We’ll always do our utmost to hold your place, but a booking can only be guaranteed once a deposit is received.
If plans change
- By you, 10–4 weeks before: loss of deposit.
- By you, 4–1 weeks before: 25% refund of monies paid (assuming all monies have been paid).
- By you, within the last week: loss of all monies paid.
- By S.E.A. Kayaking for matters within our control: full refund of any monies paid.
Using our gear
We provide all the technical equipment, in first-class condition and fit for purpose — you just bring the items on our What to Bring list. Equipment should only be used within the remit of the activity, as identified by your guide; any damage from improper use will be charged to repair or replace. Buoyancy aids must be worn at all times on the water.
Fitness, ratios & safety
- Choosing your trip: sea kayaking is strenuous — you take responsibility for choosing a trip that suits your ability. Contact us if you’re unsure.
- Medical: all clients complete a medical form before starting, and must disclose anything that may affect their participation or the group.
- Ratios: we work to a 1:6 guide-to-paddler ratio for a safe, personal experience.
- Familiarisation day: we reserve the right to stop a customer participating if we feel they lack the skills, ability or fitness needed.
- Travelling speed: expedition days cover 20–30 km, at roughly 4–6 km/h regardless of conditions.
- Weather: the guide may change, curtail or cancel a route based on conditions and the group’s ability, always making the most of the sea while keeping you safe.
- Insurance: all clients must hold personal medical & travel insurance covering sea kayaking in remote areas.
What’s provided
All meals on expedition are provided, except breakfast, lunch and dinner on the rest and familiarisation days — please bring money for those. Drinking water is supplied throughout. Accommodation is provided from the familiarisation day up to the final night before returning to base. Everyone gets their own room (couples excepted); there is no single-room supplement.
