Our Equipment & Safety
First-class kayaks, paddles and buoyancy aids — and the qualified guides and safety systems behind every trip.
We only use the best
We only use the best quality kayak equipment to ensure your safety and comfort at all times.
Boats
Our fleet of full-composite Tiderace Escape expedition kayaks come in a range of sizes, so we can fit you with a boat that is stable yet easy to manoeuvre. Tiderace describe the Escape series as solid, dependable and highly stable, yet very efficient — designed to take the hard work out of expeditions.
Paddles
Our Werner paddles come with a variety of blades — Shuna, Ikelos, Cyprus and Corryvrecken — and we also carry GearLab Greenland paddles (IPIK, Kalleq, Akiak). Carbon and high-quality fibreglass, with straight, bent and foam-filled shafts to suit every stroke and size.
Buoyancy Aids
We use a set of Palm buoyancy aids — one of the UK’s leading watersport manufacturers. Ideal for a touring adventure, with comfy adjustable features for a great fit. Buoyancy aids are worn at all times on the water.
Your safety comes first
- Our guides: as a minimum, all hold a Sea Kayak Award qualification, a current First Aid Certificate and a background check, with extensive coaching experience.
- Languages: all our staff speak English (one also Russian) and are experienced coaching non-English-speaking paddlers.
- Group size: a maximum 1:6 guide-to-paddler ratio, so we can focus on improving your skills and give a more personal experience.
- Risk assessments: our activities are fully risk-assessed to reduce every risk as far as possible.
- Insurance: our guided expeditions and lessons are insured. Personal travel insurance covering sea kayaking is still required for the rest of your trip.
